Two requests for US reconnaissance planes to cross Swiss airspace on Sunday have been rejected, the federal government in Bern said in a statement on Saturday. Three other flights, including two transport aircraft, were approved.
“The law of neutrality prohibits overflights of parties to the conflict that have a military purpose related to it. Humanitarian and medical transits, including the transport of injured persons, are permitted, as well as flights unrelated to the conflict”the government said, according to Bloomberg.
Other U.S. overflights that exceed the normal level will also be rejected if their purpose is unclear or if they are war-related, the government said.
