Masovian conservator of monuments Marcin Dawidowicz is conducting administrative proceedings regarding the entry into the register of immovable monuments of the Intraco building at ul. Stawki 2 in Warsaw. The decision will be made after a comprehensive analysis of the collected documentation.

“At the current stage of the proceedings, evidence has been collected. During the activities, an inspection of the facility was carried out, during which it was found that the building had been significantly rebuilt over the years,” Dawidowicz said.
The proceedings are being conducted at the request of the social organization Defender of Warsaw Monuments.
In June last year, the owner of the skyscraper, Polski Holding Nieruchomości, announced that the Intraco building will be demolished and a modern skyscraper, very similar to the historic one, will be built in its place. The president of PHN, Wiesław Malicki, explained then that the building was old and it was not worth modernizing it, and the new building “will meet all safety, ecology and energy efficiency standards” and will be environmentally and user-friendly.
An application for a building permit was expected to be submitted at the turn of the first and second quarter of 2026. The work would be completed in 2030, when the building will receive an occupancy permit. Demolition would take 12-16 months.
Intraco is one of the first skyscrapers in Warsaw. It was built on the corner of Stawki and Andersa streets (formerly Marcelego Nowotki) in 1975. It was built by the Swedes for the Foreign Trade Company “Intraco”, intended for foreign technical and commercial representations. For those times, the skyscraper was very modern. There is a parking lot for 200 cars in the basement and fast elevators. Although there was no air conditioning, special air intakes were installed in it, which pumped cool air to the upper floors.
In the years 1975–1978, Intraco I was the tallest office building in Warsaw. In 1978 at ul. Chałubińskiego 8, the Intraco II office building was built. In 1975, 60 foreign companies had their headquarters there. (PAP)
