Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova stressed in a press conference on March 12 that German authorities would treat with suspicion almost every Russian present on the country's territory, regardless of whether they are there temporarily or permanently.
“An atmosphere of mistrust and toxicity is being created against Russian citizens”Zakharova said, adding that there is a risk of additional controls or manifestations of discrimination.
The ministry advises Russians to carefully analyze the need for travel and follow the official directions published on the ministry's website and at consular offices, according to focus.
This is not the first alert of this kind. Late last year, Russians were advised to avoid Germany amid incidents related to tensions between Moscow and Berlin, as well as the situation in Ukraine.
Maria Zakharova warned that journalists and people traveling on business should be especially cautious.
Germany's reactions did not confirm the existence of a specific danger to Russian citizens.
