The American group Apollo is the new majority shareholder of Atletico Madrid. The club has a new Board of Directors, which also includes David Villa, world and European champion with the Spanish national team.
Atletico Madrid held an Extraordinary General Meeting of Shareholders on Thursday morning to formalize the partnership with the Apollo group. With the entry of the Americans into the shareholding, the club benefits from a capital increase of 100 million euros.

“Club Atletico Madrid held an Extraordinary General Meeting of Shareholders at Riyadh Air Metropolitano on Thursday, with the participation of shareholders representing 98.66% of the share capital. All decisions were adopted unanimously.
First, the Assembly approved an amendment to the Statute to adapt the club's corporate governance to the new share capital structure resulting from the agreement with Apollo Sports Capital. This reorganization of the significant holdings led to a new configuration of the majority shareholding.
Later, the composition of the new Board of Directors was approved. It will consist of Enrique Cerezo as President, Miguel Ángel Gil as Chief Executive Officer (CEO), and advisors Antoine Bonnier, Robert Givone, Tristram Leach, Jim Miller, Sam Porter, Amit Singh, Javier Valle, Antonio Vázquez-Guillén and David Villa. Pablo Jiménez de Parga will continue his work as secretary of the Council,” Atletico Madrid said.

Capital increase by 100 million euros
