Mihai Stoica (60 years old), the president of the FCSB Board of Directors, announced that the team will move to the arena in Ghencea at the end of the play-out, when the National Arena will become unavailable. Also in Ghencea, FCSB wants to play the tie for the Conference League.
Although initially it was written about the option for FCSB to move to the “Arcul de Triumf” stadium, the official of the red-blue formation denied this information, claiming that the only alternative location to the National Arena is the “Steaua” stadium.
There, FCSB would play the 8th stage of the play-out, with Unirea Slobozia, scheduled around May 9, as well as the semi-final of the Conference League play-off, should it finish the season in 7th place and will host the first match, scheduled for May 23 or 24.
FCSB will play in Ghencea when the National Arena closes
On Ghencea, however, according to the CA president, FCSB players do not like to play, based on previous experiences, when they had to move to the 30,000-seat arena.
“We will have only one play-out match, with Slobozia, which we have to play in Ghencea and we hope to have the play-off to play there as well. We will only play at the National Arena and Ghencea.
It was written a big nonsense that we want to play on «Arc», there was no problem”.
They don't like it. I mean, at least last year when we played, they said to open the Arena once, let's play on the Arena. They are used to it there“, said Mihai Stoica, on the show “Footbal Show”, from Prima Sport.
Gencea
-
From May 1 until July 13, no match will be played at the country's largest stadium, which will be practically closed for 10 weeks to host other extrasportive events;
-
Dinamo and FCSB, who normally play their home games there, will have to move to other arenas for the final play-off and play-out matches, respectively.
FCSB also played at the beginning of the season in Ghencea
For FCSB, it won't be the first time he goes to Ghencea this season. The titular champion also performed there at the start of the season, in the Romanian Supercup, with CFR Cluj (2-1 victory).
Also, FCSB played in Ghencea and in the 1st round of the Champions League preliminaries against Inter d'Escaldes (3-1 victory) and in three Superliga matches (1-1 with Hermannstadt, 1-2 with Farul and 0-1 with Unirea Slobozia).
From 2027, the National Arena will no longer be able to be permanently closed at the end of the season
Justin Ștefan, the general secretary of the Professional Football League, revealed on Wednesday morning, at GSP Live, the existence of a very important pact with the Capital City Hall.
Ștefan claimed in December that the League's lawyers had found ways to block the rental of the National Arena for other types of events than sports.
Thus, the country's largest stadium will no longer be unavailable, starting next season, during the peak period of the domestic competition, i.e. in the play-off/play-out.
