Anamaria Gavrilă, in Parliament: “It's a masquerade. A debauched president and an irresponsible CSAT”
POT parliamentarians did not participate in the vote on the decision that would allow, according to the letter of the President of Romania, the presence in the Mihail Kogălniceanu base of some capabilities of the United States, which will be deployed for a determined period, the leader of the formation, deputy Anamaria Gavrilă, announced on Wednesday, in the assembled plenary, quoted by Agerpres.

She added that POT will give the necessary signatures for the suspension of Nicușor Dan from the position of president.
“Faced with a critical, serious situation, Nicușor Dan does not take decisions that actually pertain to the position of president of Romania. (…) Nicușor Dan does not tell us what he negotiated for Romania in this situation. CSAT knew how to cancel the elections, but now he does not undertake to take a decision that pertains to CSAT”, said Anamaria Gavrilă.
“The question is: is Romania entering a military conflict, since you came up with this decision in Parliament and you don't accept it? POT will respect the relationship with its strategic partner the USA. And, yes, we believe that we must be partners for better or for worse. We support participation in the defensive actions initiated by our American partners. (…) But we cannot make decisions blindly, since only 100 parliamentarians know about this, out of 460. In the face of the serious danger of entry in a military conflict, in the face of a shameful evasion of the CSAT, I announce that the POT will not participate in this vote. It is a sham and an irresponsible president. Take it or resign! POT will give the necessary signatures for the suspension of Nicușor Dan.
The decision was finally approved with 272 votes “for”, 18 “against”, 5 abstentions, while two MPs did not vote.
Even the AUR parliamentarians did not vote for CSAT's request regarding the location in Romania of American refueling planes, monitoring equipment and satellite communication equipment.
