🕒 It is less than half a year before the CBAM environmental duty comes into effect, and there is still no action from the government
The Ukrainian economy is under threat due to the introduction of the European carbon tax CBAM (SVAM). It will begin to operate as early as 2026, and there are less than 6 months left before the full launch. But the government has not made any progress on the postponement.
“There were many promises regarding negotiations with the EU, regarding special conditions for Ukraine. But so far – no agreements. And time is running out,” GMK Center analyst Andriy Hlushchenko says:
🔹 Possible consequences without delay:
– export losses of up to $4.7 billion
– minus $2.7 billion of investments
– reduction to 116,000 jobs
– up to 6.4% of GDP — under threat by 2030
