Gică Popescu (58 years old), the president of Faru, wished Mirel Rădoi (44 years old) “not to be successful” in his second term at FCSB, considering that both teams will fight for the 7th place in the play-out, a position that ensures the barrier for the Conference League.
FCSB starts the play-out from the 7th place, with 23 points, and Farul Constanța starts from the 11th place, with 19 points. The two teams will duel in Ovidiu in the 5th round.
Gică Popescu commented on Mirel Rădoi's return to FCSB: “I wish him not to be successful”
“Yes, we are talking about an opponent. Unfortunately for us, FCSB will play in the play-out and it is a strong opponent. We wanted it to be in the play-off so that we would not have an opponent of their caliber. I don't know what are the arguments for which they brought Mirel.
He is certainly one of the best Romanian coaches of the moment. I wish them no success at FCSB in this play-out, because we are opponents“, declared Gică Popescu, according to orangesport.ro.
Mirel Rădoi returned to FCSB to rectify the situation: “Things are clear”
“We didn't set many conditions, things are clear. We are here to qualify for the Conference League and to do our job. That is why we are all here. It is a different team, we are here with MM, with Cernat, plus the auxiliary staff.
For me and the talks were simple, it was completely and utterly a different approach. It was about help. I compared the situations, as I came twice to Craiova, why not come twice to FCSB as well?
We are no longer talking about a trophy now, but a qualification in the Conference would be like a trophy in the situation we are in now”, said Mirel Rădoi, at his first press conference after returning to FCSB.
