CTP criticizes Simion after the scandal in the Parliament: “His highest master is Putin”

Cristian Tudor Popescu criticized the AUR, POT and SOS parliamentarians – and George Simion in particular – for the way they positioned themselves in relation to the request of the United States to send to Romania, in the context of the war in Iran, additional troops, refueling planes and monitoring equipment.

The request was approved by the Supreme Council of National Defense (CSAT), and then received the green light in Parliament, following a scandalous meeting, in which opposition representatives booed and used vuvuzelas, expressing their displeasure with the proposal.

In an intervention on Wednesday night on B1 TV, Cristian Tudor Popescu accused the leader of AUR, George Simion, of showing in Wednesday's plenary session that “his last master, the highest master is Putin, not Trump”, even though “he contorted through the United States, in every way, he just got under Trump's skin, he just made a relationship there, and the Americans didn't open any doors for him”.

“Obviously, all this anti-war speech, as they were in the 80s financed and propagated by the Kremlin, this speech is as if dictated from there, from Moscow. It's good that we see as clearly as possible. I hope that at least among the voters whom Nicușor Dan qualifies as non-extremists of the AUR party, I hope that at least among them there will be people who will clarify at this moment, after seeing what they saw”, he added the journalist.

In the speech in Parliament, the AUR leader said that the CSAT decision was “taken on the knees” and affects the destiny of a nation”. “We want to know what we are voting for”, he added, claiming that “only 64 parliamentarians consulted that classified document” sent by Cotroceni to the Romanian Parliament.

“This decision was binding”

CTP also claimed that President Nicușor Dan “had no questions to answer” on the topic of the American request, “because this decision was mandatory”.

It is part of the strategic partnership, it is also part of the NATO rules. It was an express request of the United States, which was granted. The president had nothing to elaborate on. That's all. Nor should this CSAT decision have been sent to the Parliament to be approved by the Parliament. There was no need for the Parliament to approve a technical decision, which is found in the international agreements we have, in NATO, and with the United States”, the journalist also declared.
