How many Biedronka stores are there in Poland? Latest data and forecasts for 2026


At the beginning of March, Biedronka boasted the result of over 1.8 million night visits in 2025. The chain's customers shopped at night, and the company is developing the format of stores operating 24 hours a day. Currently, there are 25 such outlets in Poland, and the network intends to increase their number.

Biedronka is the largest player on the Polish food market, and its further expansion affects competition and the availability of products for millions of Poles. The expansion of the network means greater convenience of shopping, especially in smaller towns.

The retail chain also wants to gain a larger share in the Slovak shopping market. The plans presented by the chain in 2025 assume that by 2026 there will be at least 50 branches operating in Slovakia. Both 24-hour and foreign stores will join the huge network of branches that Biedronka can boast of. As explained by NSSD.pl, at the end of the first quarter of 2025, there were 3,802 Biedronka stores in Poland. This is an increase compared to 2024, when 3,730 branches were operating. The network is present in over 1,300 towns, which shows its enormous reach and popularity.
Biedronka is present in both large cities and smaller towns. There are as many as 177 stores in Warsaw alone, and the branches are strategically located to provide easy access to as many customers as possible. Thanks to this, the chain consolidates its leading position in Polish retail trade.

According to Retailnet.pl, the Jerónimo Martins Group ended 2025 with revenues of approximately EUR 36 billion, which means an increase of 7.6%. rdr. (+6.7% at constant exchange rates). In the fourth quarter, the Group's sales increased by 8.7%. up to EUR 9.5 billion.
In 2026, Biedronka does not intend to rest on its laurels and also plans to open over 130 new stores in various regions of Poland. New facilities are to be established both in large cities and in less urbanized areas. This is part of a long-term strategy aimed at even greater product availability and strengthening the brand's position on the market.
