An LPG tank was damaged during some works in Mamaia Sat. Strong smell of gas in the area

The military firefighters intervened in Mamaia Sat on Monday, after a strong smell of gas was reported, most likely from a damaged pipe during some works carried out in the area.

According to the representatives of the “Dobrogea” Emergency Situations Inspectorate, the incident took place on Prelungirea D12 street, number 11. A CBRN crew, specialized in interventions in the case of dangerous substances, and a special fire truck from the Midia station arrived on the scene.

From the first information, it is about an LPG tank buried in the sand, whose manometer was accidentally hit by workers during the execution of some work, which led to the release of the smell of gas.

Several institutions were notified to manage the situation, including the Constanța County Police Inspectorate, the Dobrogea-Litoral Water Basin Administration, the National Environmental Guard, as well as the Năvodari City Hall.

“The intervention crews arrived at the scene to assess the situation and to take the necessary measures so that any risk to the residents of the area is eliminated. The authorities are continuing the checks to establish the exact circumstances in which the incident occurred”, according to ISU Constanța.
