“Let me tell you something cool. In 6 days after ANAR notified the existence of tons of waste in the Călimănești reservoir, they were cleaned. So, yes, we can have a clean Romania where the authorities understand that no one looks back and where responsibility becomes the basic principle of their activity”, wrote the Minister of the Environment, on Sunday, on Facebook.

Diana Buzoianu explained how she ended up notifying the National Administration “Romanian Waters”

“A week ago (…), I was passing by by chance, on my way to Bucharest the Călimănești reservoir which was full of rubbish, as you can see. I stopped, took pictures, notified ANAR of this situation. The representatives of Apele Române immediately went to the field and got in touch with the representatives of Hidroelectrica who manage this work. Yesterday, 6 days after I notified the authorities about this problem, the cleaning work of the lake was being completed. I thank the Hidroelectrica representatives for collaborating with the ANAR representatives and for cleaning the tons of waste from the Călimănești reservoir in 6 days”.

“Our vigilance, everyone's, is important”

Diana Buzoianu emphasized the importance of collaboration between institutions to protect water resources, stating that such interventions show that complaints from citizens and authorities can produce real changes:

“It is vital for all of us to have clean water. So the lesson is simple: our vigilance, of all of us, is important. Yes, system changes are also needed, where they are, they are non-functional today. But it is also important every case in which the authorities are notified, every example of “it is possible, starting today, to see a change for the better”.
