Ukrainian esports players were fined for using in-game phrases in Russian
Players of the Passion UA esports club Oleg “yowaai” Mikhailov and Nikolai “niche” Zemlyansky used phrases in Russian during an official match, which did not escape the attention of fans and the club’s management.
After the game, Passion UA representatives apologized to the Ukrainians and stated that the players were fined for “purchasing and using a phrase from the club’s game set, which is sponsored by a Russian sanctioned company.”
Passion UA lost the match itself with a score of 0:2.
