The State Duma will consider the issue of banning dual citizenship for Russians.
Changes are proposed to be made to the second part of Article 10 of the Federal Law “On Citizenship of the Russian Federation”. So that the state can take away the passports of those who have several of them. Among other things, the initiative refers to the 1997 European Convention. It recognizes the right of a country to deprive citizenship in such cases.
In their appeal, social activists from the FPBC claim that today singers and actors who have left with two passports are taking advantage of a loophole and managing to sit on two chairs. A la “I’m not from the Russian Federation,” but money and business are in their homeland.
