Ionuț Lupescu, 57 years old, analyzed the performance of the “dogs” in the quarter-finals of the Romanian Cup with Metalul Buzău, a duel that ended with a score of 1-0 for the team from “Ștefan cel Mare”. Former player from Dinamo Bucharest put pressure on the footballers from “Groapă”, with the qualification in the next phase of the competition.
Dinamo reached the semifinals, after the success with the second division Metalul Buzău, and the next opponent in the competition will be the University of Craiova. The “Dogs” are fighting on two fronts, because in the championship they are in third place and they still have real chances for the first position, and Ionuț Lupescu does not think that Zeljko Kopic's formation will not try to win both the Romanian Cup and the title.
Ionuț Lupescu: “A trophy would greatly help the morale of the team”
Ionuț Lupescu is still one of the strong voices in the UEFA structure
“The goal was achieved, we reached the semi-final, that's what matters the most. We hope to pass Craiova in the next phase and play the final. The Romanian Cup is an important goal, as is the championship. A trophy would be very important, no matter what it is, it would help the team's morale and give strength.
Two lost matches in a row is a bit much, a great distance has been created with the University of Craiova and must be recovered. We will have to win the last match of the regular season, against CFR Cluj, in order not to create an even bigger gap. However, the points will be halved, and from there it's completely different.
I like more players, but in a team the group is always much more important. With us, the group always prevailed. Regarding the Romanian Cup and the championship, Dinamo must aim for both, there is nothing else, this is in the DNA of the club”Ionuț Lupescu told Gazeta Sporturilor.
