According to the intelligence service, the suspect allegedly planned to plant two explosive devices: one under the car of a Ukrainian soldier, the second near the scene of the incident after the arrival of emergency services.
The person detained by law enforcement officers is a foreigner from the South Caucasus who has lived in Kyiv for a long time.
“By order of the Russian Federation, he was preparing a double terrorist attack in Kyiv. He came to the attention of the occupiers when he was looking for “quick earnings” in Telegram channels. After remote recruitment, the foreigner received instructions from a Russian intelligence officer on how to make homemade bombs from improvised means,” the press service informed.
During the searches, an explosive device, components for its manufacture, military grenades and a mobile phone with evidence of a probable connection with the Russian Federation were confiscated from the detainee, the SBU reported.
He was informed of suspicion under Part 1 of Art. 14 and part 2 of Art. 258 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (preparation for a terrorist act).
