Cristi Chivu, Inter's coach, gave an interview in Italy the day after the 0-0 Coppa Italia draw with Como and previewed Sunday's derby against rivals AC Milan.

Inter is in first place in Serie A, with 67 points after 27 stages. AC Milan is in second place, with 10 points less. A win would take Cristi Chivu one step closer to the title in Italy. A failure would rekindle the hopes of the “devil” in Milan.

Cristi Chivu: “This team deserves to be praised for everything it has achieved in recent years”

Asked about the big derby with AC Milan, Chivu emphasized the importance of the game. “We know how important this game is at this point in the season.

And Milan is having an excellent championship, it's a team that has only lost twice. They have ambition, quality and a coach who prepares the matches very well. We will have to be up to it and I'm sure we will be,” said Chivu, quoted by fcinter1908.it.

The technician continued, praising Inter's progress in recent years: “I don't want to comment on certain things, I've already talked too much. Football brings out my negative side, so I prefer not to talk and leave the analysis to the experts.

But what I have to say is that this team deserves to be praised for everything they have achieved in recent years.”

Cristi Chivu, about the draw with Como: “Both teams preferred not to lose”

Cristi Chivu also spoke about the draw with Como, score 0-0, from the first leg of the semi-finals of the Italian Cup.

We had to change some players, we also modified the game system, evolving for the first time with only one striker and two players behind him. It wasn't easy, because we didn't have much time to prepare the match. And they played without a real peak. It was a cautious game and when it became clear that it could not be won, both teams preferred not to lose.
