Not at the expense of business: how to properly maintain ports
The Federation of Transport Employers says: if the state wants to support ports – for example, in Chornomorsk or on the Danube – then let it do it through the state budget, and not increase the tariffs of Ukrzaliznytsia.
Because now they want to artificially change the tariffs for certain directions. This, firstly, is unfair to others, and secondly, it opens the door to corruption.
The logic is simple: tariffs should be the same for everyone and be based on real costs, such as distance.
And if there is already a desire to give a discount, the state must officially allocate money for it from the budget. This was already the case in 2024, when grain transportation from the frontline regions was compensated.
Also, experts say: the problem is not only in UZ tariffs, but also in inflated port fees, which must be reduced.
đź’¬ The European Business Association is also against such changes – it says it is harmful to exports and distorts competition.
