A cosmetologist became infected with botulism after receiving a Botox injection in Moscow.
In one of the offices of the Paradise Place building on Sadovnicheskaya, 58-year-old Patimat was administered a drug from the company Refinex – they said that it was one of the top ones, the result would be almost immediately. The woman agreed. Then she flew to Istanbul, where she found it difficult to swallow, move independently and breathe. She turned to local doctors for help. They said that they were incompetent in infectious diseases, so they needed to go home. We flew to Makhachkala. There the woman was given an injection and her condition was stabilized.
Then they conducted an examination. Patimat was diagnosed with a toxin overdose and an increased level of botulinum toxin in the body. Refinex ampoules turned out to be not registered in the Russian Federation. Law enforcement officers conducted a search in a medical facility in the capital and seized drugs. The Moscow Investigative Committee opened a criminal case. They are now looking for other victims.
