After missing out on qualifying for the play-offs for the first time, FCSB will now fight to finish in 7th or 8th place, which ensures presence in the Conference League play-off. And during the competition break, a real revolution will take place in the red-blue formation.
Gigi Becali has announced that he is going to make a series of important changes in the summer. “We will bring 7 players,” conveyed the businessman, who wants to strengthen every compartment. The first player for whom FCSB will start the offense will be Kevin Ciubotaru.
Kevin Ciubotaru, the first player wanted by FCSB in the summer
As Risto Radunovic will turn 34 in May, and Alexandru Pantea did not give the desired performance, Gigi Becali wants to bring in a left defender. His chosen one is Kevin Ciubotaru, the 22-year-old defender from Hermannstadt.
The international was wanted by FCSB this winter as well, but the negotiations did not materialize. But the talks will resume in the summer, when the champion of the last two years will press the accelerator pedal to convince him to accept the proposal and stop waiting for an offer from abroad. As far as the negotiations with Hermannstadt are concerned, it's as if the matter is settled, considering that the footballer has a termination clause of 450,000 euros.
Kevin Ciubotaru played for all the Romanian national teams, starting with U15
The defender has 28 games this season, managing two goals. Having played for several junior teams of clubs such as Rapid Vienna, Admira, Parma or Rangers, Kevin Ciubotaru was brought by Hermannstadt in the summer of 2023.
In the 2024-2025 season he was transferred to Unirea Ungheni, and from the summer of 2025 he is a regular at Hermannstadt.
He is also eligible for U21
An important asset for Ciubotaru is that he will also be able to be used as a player eligible for the U21 rule. In the 2026-2027 season, just like the current season, the U21 footballer must be born in 2004. And as Kevin is born in February 2004, he will tick the rule for the following year as well.
Which means that Ștefan Târnovanu could return between the sticks, instead of Matei Popa, used in the last matches to fulfill the U21 rule.
