FC Copenhagen, last season's champions from Denmark, missed out on the current season, as did FCSB.

FCSB is not the only team that has been a laughing stock in the domestic competition this season. The surprise can be considered even bigger in the case of Copenhagen, taking into account that the team from Denmark played in the Champions League this season.

FC Copenhagen missed the play-off in Denmark

On Sunday, March 1, Copenhagen lost 1-2 at home against Randers. The Danish champions finished the regular season in 7th place with 29 points, two behind Nordsjaelland, the last team to qualify for the play-offs.

A huge surprise considering that the team from Copenhagen is the second highest rated team in its country, with a market share of almost 74 million euros. The first is Midtjylland, with a virtual value of 99 million.

After 22 stages, the first place in Denmark is Aarhus, with 50 points, a team with 5 titles in their records. It is followed by Midtjylland, and the play-off is completed by Sonderjyske, Brondby, Viborg and Nordsjaelland.

How FC Copenhagen fared in the Champions League

Copenhagen finished their single Champions League group in 31st place with 8 points from 8 matches.

The Danes won two, drew twice and lost 4 games. They won with Villarreal (3-2) and Kairat (3-2), drew with Napoli (1-1) and Leverkusen (2-2). They were defeated by Barcelona (1-4), Tottenham (0-4), Dortmund (2-4) and Qarabag (0-2).
