US President Donald Trump announced the death of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, the supreme leader of Iran, in a message published on his social network Truth Social. Iran has not announced anything so far, and some semi-official news agencies have insisted that Khamenei is alive.

Earlier, Khamenei's death in this morning's Israel-US operation was announced by an Israeli official, a US official and an Iranian opposition publication, and Trump told NBC: “We believe the information is correct.”

Shortly after, Donald Trump returned with more details on Truth Social. “Khamenei, one of the worst men in history, is dead. This is not only justice for the Iranian people, but for all great Americans and people in many countries around the world who were killed or maimed by Khamenei and his gang of bloodthirsty criminals,” he wrote.

“The greatest chance for the Iranian people to regain their country”

Trump said the removal of the Iranian leader was carried out in collaboration with Israel and had an appeal for the Iranian people.

“He (No. Khamenei) could not avoid our intelligence and our sophisticated surveillance systems, and working closely with Israel, there was nothing he or the other leaders who were killed with him could have done. This is the best chance for the Iranian people to win back their country. We hear that many members of the IRGC, the military and other security and police forces no longer want to fight and are seeking immunity from our side,” the US president wrote.

“Intensive and precise bombing will continue”

He urged the Iranian Revolutionary Guards and police to work alongside the Iranian people in the days ahead and revealed that US operations in Iran would continue.

“As I said last night, 'Now they can have immunity, later they will only have death!' We hope that the IRGC and the police will peacefully unite with Iranian patriots and work together as one entity to restore the country to the greatness it deserves. This process should start soon because not only is Khamenei dead, but the country was, in one day, greatly destroyed and even wiped off the face of the earth. But intense and precise bombing will continue, without interruption, throughout the week or as long as necessary to achieve our goal of PEACE THROUGHOUT THE MIDDLE EAST AND, IN FACT, THROUGHOUT THE WORLD!” Trump concluded.
