increasingly complicated for FCSB

U Cluj defeated Oțelul in stage 29 and thus qualified for the play-off. Two places remain available, for which CFR Cluj, FC Argeș, FCSB and UTA are fighting.

If CFR Cluj and FC Argeș are in their hands, for FCSB the situation in the ranking has become even more complicated. For U Cluj to mess with Oțelul was the scenario in which the red-blues placed their highest hopes.

Led by Gigi Becali, the FCSB were hoping for Oțelul to get a positive result, which would have opened the door for the Red-Blues to qualify for the play-offs, provided they won their last two matches.

But after the victory at the Cluj Arena, Bergodi's team reached 51 points and can no longer lose the play-off qualification. Which leaves only two spots available.

Play-off calculations: 4 teams in two places

Before this round, 7 teams were fighting for 3 places. U Cluj secured their position, and FC Botoșani and Oțelul, who lost in this round, have no more chances. Thus, 4 teams remained (CFR Cluj, FC Argeș, FCSB and UTA) for two places.

CFR Cluj is at her fingertips

Occupying the 5th place, CFR Cluj, needs at least two points to be sure of qualifying for the play-off. Pancu's team still has Farul to play away and Dinamo at home. Two points would take it to the milestone of 49, which only FCSB can reach among the teams ranked lower than 6th place, but CFR has the advantage of direct results (2-2, 4-1) against the red-blues.

If FCSB does not win the two remaining matches, CFR would have enough for one point, because in the event of a tie on points with UTA, 48, they would have the advantage of direct results (1-1 and 1-0).

FC Argeș needs three points

FC Argeș is in the last place leading to the play-off, with 46 points. He has a tough match at this stage, away to Dinamo, and in the last round he receives the visit of Unirii Slobozia.

To be sure of the presence in the Top 6, the white-violets need a victory in the two stages. They would reach 49 points, a milestone that FCSB could also reach, but the results from the direct matches are on their side: 2-0 and 1-0.

It's getting harder for FCSB: it's in the hands of others

Because U Cluj won, FCSB must lower one of CFR Cluj and FC Argeș below 6th place. And unfortunately for her, it's up to the results. First of all, he needs to win both of his matches, with UTA in Arad and with U Cluj at home, then for one of these conditions to be fulfilled:

  • FC Argeș to get a maximum of two points from the remaining matches, away with Dinamo, at home with Unirea Slobozia.

  • CFR Cluj to get a maximum of one point from the remaining games, with Farul away and Dinamo at home. With two points, the team from Gruia would also reach 49, a scenario in which they would overtake FCSB in the direct results (2-2 in the round, 4-1 in the return leg);

Sci-fi scenario for UTA

At the moment, UTA has 42 points. With two wins, at home against FCSB and Metaloglobus away, they would reach 48. In which case would still have to meet one of these conditions to enter the play-offs:

  • FC Argeș to get a maximum of two points with Dinamo (away) and Unirea Slobozia (home). This is because in the event of a tie, 48-48, they have the advantage of “directs” (3-3 and 1-0);

  • CFR Cluj to lose both remaining matches, with Farul away and Dinamo at home.

Four points would only be enough if both of the following conditions were met:
