American profile publications reacted to the triumph of David Popovici (20 years) in the 100 -meter free sample from the Singapore World Natation Championships.

  • Roxana Fleșeru, the reporter of the Sports Gazette, is in Singapore, from where the best information about the World Natation Championships.

David obtained the gold medal both in the 200 and 100 -meter free. The latter was won in great style, with the second best time in history, 46.51 seconds, a result with only 11 cues under the world record in this sample, of Zhanle Pan.

The second in the final was the American Jack Alexy, who had been the fastest in the semifinals. How did the press react across the ocean?

Swimswam: “Monster performance of David Popovici”

“The final of the 100 -meter sample took place on day 5 of the World Championships, and the Romanian David Popovici stole the spotlight with a monstrous performance.

The 20-year-old swimmer has doubled his gold from 200 meters free, establishing a remarkable personal record of 46.51 seconds, to climb again on the first step of the podium.

Popovici managed to keep American Jack Alexy away, who took the silver 46.92 seconds, followed by the Australian Kyle Chalmers Olympic champion, who stopped the stopwatch at 47.17 for bronze.

Alexy swam the first basin with the best time. Popovici opened the race with an energetic 22.49 and swam the second length of basin in 24.02 seconds, to beat his previous personal and European record of 46.71 seconds, obtained at the European U23 this year.

The performance of Popovici deleted the previous record of the competition, 46.80 seconds, established by PAN last year, in Doha, ”wrote the Swimswam.

The Swimming World Magazine reaction: “Popovici has recovered every drop of the magic displayed at 17”

In praiseworthy terms, those from Swimming World Magazine also commented.

“That Final speed that any other swimmer fears, the tenacity of being at its peak in the most important moments. These attributes made David so special when he won worldwide and broke the world record at the age of 17, and every drop of that magic was recovered for Singapore.

Now 20 years old, Popovici had already been in front of the platoon to secure his world title in the 200-meter free, and now exceeded a sensational platoon to take gold and 100 meters freedetaching themselves from opponents to swim the second fastest time in history.

Popovici was never the fastest swimmer in the big finals at 100 meters free, and this platoon had Egor Kornev and Gui carbin setting. Popovici was at the fourth halfway, but close enough to start the engines while approaching the destination.

Popovici had American Jack Alexy and Australian Kyle Chalmers, both ending the race well, but No one has managed to approach 4 seconds of Romanian on the second length.

The final time of Popovici was 46.51 seconds, with which he beat the European record of 46.71, also established by him last month, and with which he approached only 0.11 seconds to the world record established last year by Zhanle Pan, at the Olympic Games.

The second half of 24.02 seconds was the second fastest in history, immediately below the 23.98 success at the U23 Europeans last month. But more importantly, it is a result far from what took place in Paris, where Popovici finished for a second after the winner“They wrote.
