The Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported that the voluntary withdrawal of non-essential personnel and family members from diplomatic missions in Israel and the West Bank had been approved.
“With reference to the staff of the Romanian Embassy in Tel Aviv, we inform you that the Minister of Foreign Affairs has approved the voluntary repatriation of non-essential staff and family members from the Romanian Embassy in Tel Aviv, the General Consulate of Romania in Haifa, respectively the Romanian Representative Office in Ramallah,” the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a press release.
The decision of the authorities in Bucharest comes in the context in which several states have announced that they are withdrawing staff from their embassies in Israel and Iran or have issued security warnings for their citizens who are in these countries, in the context of a possible attack by the United States on Iran.
“The MAE will continue to monitor the evolution of the security situation in the region and is ready to grant consular protection to Romanian citizens,” the ministry also stated.
