PSD asks the “Salvador Romania Union” to withdraw Salvador Caragea, “a special retired route operator”, from the management of UM Sadu
The PSD sent on Thursday, February 26, that it requests the USR to urgently withdraw Salvador Caragea from the management of Uzina Mecanice (UM) Sadu, mocking the formation it calls, in an official statement, the “Salvador Romania Union”.

“It is unqualified for a party that built its political platform on the condemnation of special pensions, sinecurists and political trailblazers, to promote to the management of a strategic company in the field of Defense a special retired trailblazer, whose only “competence” for that position is the quality of a family friend of the Minister of Defense, Radu Miruță”, PSD sent in a statement.
PSD claims that the USR would have politicized a strategic position by appointing a former head of a canine center to the head of a company that produces standard NATO ammunition, considering that the person does not have the appropriate expertise for a field essential to defense.
“Ultimately, such serious slippages end up constituting a national security vulnerability,” adds the party.
The PSD claims that this is not the first controversial appointment by the USR:
- “The confectioner appointed as prefect of the Capital
- The grocery store manager appointed as prefect of Botoșani county
- The seller of sex toys reached the board of directors of a company subordinate to Minister Miruță
- The former secretary of the mayor of USR from Bacău, appointed to the position of prefect of the county
- Professional poker player and former classmate of Minister Miruță, appointed state secretary at the Ministry of Economy
- The sister-in-law of the former USR president Cătălin Drula, appointed secretary of state in the Ministry of Investments and European Projects”
In this context, PSD specifies that it will vote against the special retirement proposed by the Salvador Romania Union for the position of People's Advocate.
Salvador Caragea, appointed as special administrator at UM Sadu
We remind you that on Tuesday, February 24, the Minister of Economy, Irineu Darău, appointed Viorel Salvador Caragea, former commander of the Gorj County Police Inspectorate, to the position of special administrator at UM Sadu, one of the strategic armament factories in Romania.
Viorel Caragea, a former policeman with an impressive CV, but also with a questionable political past, was chosen by Minister Darău “taking into account his CV and results“, as he declared for Antena 3 CNN.
The minister stated that he assessed his experience in policing, engineering, management and forensics. “It is also worth noting the extensive action to arrest some thieves of weapon parts even from Sadu. I am not aware of any vulnerability of Mr. Caragea and I do not discriminate against people based on their political affiliation“, Darău said.

The Minister of Defense, Radu Miruță, later specified that the appointment of Caragea was based on his experience in combating criminality in the factory and the professional performances recognized by the Ministry of Internal Affairs, and the factory's activity remains under supervision “the minister's watchful eye”.
“This man arrested 17 people who were stealing ammunition and weaponry from the factory. It stuck in my head and I moved on.” said Miruță, according to the daily.
“That man was twice awarded within the Ministry of the Interior as the Policeman of the Year. I think that at the Ministry of the Interior, where there is competition between all the policemen, these awards are not given unless there are some characteristics behind it”, adds Radu Miruta.
