The parties signed the agreement at the headquarters of the US Department of Energy in Washington. The ceremony was attended by Deputy Secretary of Energy James Danly, Minister of Energy Miłosz Motyka and government plenipotentiary for strategic energy infrastructure Wojciech Wrochny. GE Vernova Hitachi will also carry out work in Poland, where it plans to create a competence center. OSGE teams will also work on the development.
Cooperation with GE Vernova Hitachi has been ongoing since March 2023, when OSGE, together with the American TVA and Canadian OPG and the technology provider, signed an agreement to co-finance the universal power plant project with BWRX-300. Kasprów recalled that that contract included detailed executive designs, among others: for the reactor building and the equipment inside, including the reactor. The value of that contract exceeded USD 400 million.

They are to be built around the concern's Anwil plant in Włocławek. Other locations include Stawy Monowskie near the Synthos plant in Oświęcim and Stalowa Wola. According to estimates of the Ministry of Energy, commercial operation of the power plant in Włocławek is expected in the early 2030s.
The BWRX-300 belongs to the boiling water reactor family. Due to its relatively low power – 300 MWe, it is classified as a small SMR modular reactor. The first such reactor is being built at the Canadian Darlington nuclear power plant and is scheduled to be ready in 2029.
