In the Krasnoyarsk Territory, the regional department of the FSB of Russia and the Siberian operational customs stopped the channel of illegal export of coniferous wood abroad.
As the department's press service said, two companies that harvested timber sent shipments of timber under foreign trade contracts using forged documents.
“In particular, they submitted declarations to the Siberian Electronic Declaration Center indicating insufficient information about the origin of lumber. In total, the attackers managed to illegally send more than 15 thousand cubic meters of wood worth over 150 million rubles to countries near and far abroad,” the press service said.
Detention of suspects
The Siberian operational customs opened two criminal cases against members of the criminal group under paragraph “c” of Part 2 of Art. 226.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (smuggling of strategically important goods and resources by a group of persons by prior conspiracy). The law provides for punishment under this article – imprisonment for a term of 5 to 10 years with a fine of up to one million rubles and restriction of freedom for a term of up to 1.5 years.
