Dozens of supporters of the former candidate in the presidential elections appeared on Monday at the Bucharest Court of Appeal, where a new term in the case of crimes against the constitutional order is being tried.

According to the footage published by Antena3 and G4Media, they entered the Bucharest Court of Appeal building and chanted “Călin, innocent”. The gendarmes guarded the door of the courtroom and did not allow access. The trial is not public.

On the quoted footage, it can be seen that people came with icons, tricolor scarves, and at one point the gendarmes who were blocking their passage to the courtroom booed.

What is happening at the Bucharest Court of Appeal

The judges of the Bucharest Court of Appeal are ruling today on a new term in the case in the preliminary chamber. They must rule on whether the prosecutors' indictment is correctly drawn up and the trial can begin.

At today's term, Horațiu Potra was also present, accused alongside Georgescu. According to Digi24 sources, the former leader of the Romanian mercenaries fighting in Africa complained of medical problems and an ambulance was requested to receive care.

What are the charges

In mid-September, Călin Georgescu was also sent to court in this case. Horațiu Potra and 20 of his mercenaries are indicted alongside him. Georgescu is accused of complicity in attempting to commit actions against the constitutional order and communication of false information.

Georgescu is also sent to court in a case of legionary propaganda. Here, the judges ordered the trial to begin.
