What is known about the Mar-a-Lago attacker?
According to information released by the American services, the would-be attacker is a white man aged approximately 20-25. FBI officials did not release his name or surname. Unofficially, it is known that the attacker was 21-year-old Austin Tucker Martin, a North Carolina resident who went missing a few days ago. Investigators believe he left North Carolina and headed south, purchasing weapons along the way. The services decided to show his photo.
The attacker was detained by the services with a gun and a canister of gasoline in his hands. Security ordered the man to throw them away. These were the only words the Secret Service agents spoke to him.
As a result, the attacker dropped the canister and raised the shotgun, taking a shooting position. At this point, the officers used their weapons to “neutralize the threat.” It is not known whether the attacker's gun was loaded.
FBI spokesman Brett Skiles says the area where the incident occurred was under Secret Service protection. The FBI is investigating the incident. It is intended to answer, among others: to the question of how the attacker got into the most closely guarded area. Two agents took part in the incident. None of them were hurt.
