Mihai Tentea and George Iordache ranked 5th in the bob-2 event at the Milan Cortina Olympic Games, the best performance of the tricolors after Sapporo 1972. The two were called by the President of Romania, Nicușor Dan, and the ANS decided to double the value of the prize that the Executive will award.
Mihai Tentea and George Iordache achieved an extraordinary result for Romania at the Olympic Games in Milan: 5th place in the two-person bobsled.
The two athletes achieved the best performance of the tricolors in bobsled after Sapporo 1972. The only medal won by Romania at the Winter Olympics dates back to 1968, being brought by Ion Panţuru and Nicolae Neagoe in the two-person bobsled.

Just one day after the important success for Romanian sport, Mihai and George received a phone call from the President of Romania, Nicușor Dan.
The head of state congratulated the two for the result they achieved at the Winter Olympic Games and told them that he is waiting for them to return home healthy.

At the same time, the president of the National Sports Agency, Bogdan Matei, announced that the prize for the two is to be doubled by the Executive.

GSP learned that ANS will make a request in this regard to the Romanian Government, the final decision to be taken during a meeting of the Executive, led by Ilie Bolojan.
As the initial prize is €42,000, they would receive €84,000 for the result in Italy.
