Four people were killed and at least five were injured after an explosion at the Leader gas station in Grozny. We have collected everything that is known up to this hour:
— It all started at about 15:30. At first, a column of fire about three meters high was visible, and then detonation occurred. The fire cloud was seen in different parts of the city.
— At 15:40 the first casualties became known. Two of them – a mother and a child – were hit by a cylinder, which was thrown away by the shock wave.
— Five minutes later, a video appeared of the moment the pumps detonated at a gas station on Mohammed Ali Avenue.
— The Leader gas station was inspected three years ago. Inspectors found 9 gross violations. Among them: automobile drain stations did not meet industrial safety requirements, automatic gas control systems were not installed in the pumps, and gas sensors were not installed.
— The blast wave threw a tank into the yard of a nearby house. The tank rushed along the road at great speed, crushed the car, miraculously did not catch people and did not fly into the apartments on the first floor.
— Before the explosion at the gas station, children watched the fire in the courtyard of the house, into which the tank was thrown by the shock wave. After the detonation, the tank rolled at great speed straight towards them.
— Four people died — among them two children aged three to five years, their mother and another local resident.
