Information about the initiation of the investigation was revealed by Olga Malinkiewicz, co-founder and CTO of Saule Technologies, citing an official government announcement. In a post on the social media platform, X wrote that the case already concerns several dozen combined proceedings.

The allegations include possible irregularities in obtaining public funds, including European funds.
The investigation, as we read on money.pl, focuses on the “Clean Air” program, which supports owners of single-family houses in replacing heat sources and thermal modernization of buildings. In recent months, the government has announced changes to the “My Electricity” program, which additionally emphasizes the need to verify subsidy control mechanisms in the renewable energy sector.
Mechanism of alleged abuses
Law enforcement authorities are analyzing the procedures used by Columbus Energy in servicing customers applying for financing. The District Prosecutor's Office in Łomża, based on the decision of the National Prosecutor of December 23, 2025, was designated to conduct collective proceedings regarding the company's activities.
The official statement quoted by money.pl states that the investigation concerns misleading the beneficiaries of EU funding under the “Clean Air” program.

Investigators describe in detail the methods used by Columbus Energy representatives or employees. INthe charges include forging signatures, submitting forged or forged documents, as well as submitting unreliable statements regarding key circumstances necessary to obtain financial support.
Consolidation of cases from all over the country
The decision of the National Prosecutor gave the investigation a nationwide dimension. All threads that had previously been scattered in local prosecutor's offices were combined into one proceedings conducted by the unit in Łomża. The purpose of this consolidation is to improve the evidentiary process and assess the scale of the practice.
The prosecutor's office sent letters to all district prosecutor's offices asking them to review and send case files, both those in progress and completed ones, in order to combine them into one proceeding.
Investigators also return to cases that were previously discontinued or those in which proceedings were refused. The re-analysis of the evidence is intended to provide a more complete understanding of the scale and nature of the reported irregularities.

As of February 18, 2026, 66 cases have already been combined, and the prosecutor's office is still waiting for files from approximately 15 units.
