Will there be a breakthrough in Ukraine? Volodymyr Zelensky after the negotiations in Geneva

“There were two groups: a military group and a political group. We are closer to ending the negotiations in the military sphere than in the political sphere. Why? Because the military in the tripartite format talked about how to develop a mission to monitor the ceasefire, when it will be established, when the political direction will open up these possibilities,” he wrote on social media.

Why doesn't Zelensky need 'historical talks' with Russia?
He explained that during the negotiations, technical details regarding the ceasefire were discussed, and above all, the role of the Americans, “because they will play the main role in monitoring.”

Volodymyr Zelensky on the role of Europe. “Difficult situation”
“The difficult discussion revolves around the role of Europeans. Their role is of great importance to us. It is important that we have American partners. But I emphasize time and time again that, in my opinion, we also need European representatives,” he noted.
“When they have such a document, they will be able to discuss everything. But for me it is important that they discuss our potential place in NATO with us. Not only with the Russians – with us. Because it concerns us. Although they can also do it without us. Maybe we don't know something. In any case, we will react to surprises if they appear,” he assured.

“I don't need history talk”
He also said that he did not need “historical talks” from Moscow's representatives to end this war. He thus referred to the views of the head of the Russian delegation, Vladimir Medinsky, born in Ukraine, an advisor to the leader of Russia, Vladimir Putin, former Minister of Culture and president of the Russian Military Historical Society. Medinsky, as the media write, denies Ukraine's independence and justifies Russian aggression against this country.
“I don't need all these historical talks to end this war and move on to diplomacy. Because it's just a time-wasting tactic. I've read no fewer history books than Putin. And I've learned a lot. I know more about his country than he knows about Ukraine,” he emphasized.
The president of Ukraine said that Russia was trying to “sell its audience” information about successes on the front, but he said that the Russian public did not believe it. “Even their audience – the nationalist, radicalized part of Russian society – does not trust the government or Putin. Because they see that there are no successful steps on the battlefield. Now Russia is losing 30,000 – 35,000 servicemen a month – killed or seriously injured. They are really paying with the lives of 156 people to occupy one kilometer of our land. And we also have our offensive steps and then they suffer losses,” Zelensky said.
