The first meeting of the Peace Council with the participation of representatives of 49 countries began on Thursday at the headquarters of the Institute of Peace in Washington. The main topic of the meeting will be the future of the Gaza Strip.

During the meeting, US President Donald Trump is to announce payments from Council members for the reconstruction of the Gaza Strip in the amount of over USD 5 billion, as well as declarations regarding military forces for the International Stabilization Force to ensure order in this Palestinian territory.
The meeting, scheduled for 75 minutes, gathered representatives of 49 countries, most of them as observers. More than a dozen countries are represented at the level of head of state or head of government; these include: Argentina, Bahrain, Qatar, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Indonesia, Albania, Egypt, Hungary, Romania, Armenia and Cambodia.
Representatives of 13 countries and members of the Council's executive committee are scheduled to speak at the meeting, including: US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, US presidential envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, and former British Prime Minister Tony Blair. Poland is represented by the head of the International Policy Office of the Chancellery of the President of the Republic of Poland, Marcin Przydacz, who, however, will not take the floor. (PAP)
