The Peace Council is a diplomatic disaster for Trump

Looking at the countries taking part in the inaugural session of the Peace Council in Washington – not counting, of course, the United States itself and several important countries, but in the Middle East, not on a global scale – it must be said that Trump managed to invite second- and third-league players to Washington. The above means a diplomatic defeat for Donald Trump.

Although it is not really known what the Peace Council is supposed to be, it is worth examining whether there is a chance that for USD 1 billion entry fee to obtain a license from the American administration. The chances for this are probably slim, but Poland is in such a difficult situation that it is worth exploring all – even the most non-standard – solutions.
The Peace Council may turn out to be only the governing body of the Gaza Strip
At the same time, however, as politicians associated with the Polish right and publicists supporting PiS want, we should not blindly enter the Council as long as we are not sure what it is to become. And whether joining it would give us any benefits.
It is worth remembering that the Peace Council may only turn out to be the governing body of the Gaza Strip, where, as suggested by the prestigious and well-informed American bimonthly foreign policy magazine “Foreign Affairs”, the function of stabilizing forces may be fulfilled by armed mercenaries. If it turned out that Poland, as a member of the Peace Council, was to take responsibility for their almost certain crimes against the civilian population, and at the same time get nothing in terms of our security, joining such a council would be an incredible mistake.
When analyzing the pros and cons, it is also worth taking a look at what Vatican diplomacy, known for its sophistication, is doing. The attitude of the Holy See towards the Peace Council is clearly demonstrated by the words of the Secretary of State of the Holy See, i.e. the head of Vatican diplomacy, Cardinal Pietro Parolin, who stated that Pope Leo XIV, after learning about the details regarding the Peace Council, was “embarrassed” by what he learned.
In the language of Vatican diplomacy, such a statement should be translated as a signal that the Holy Father considered what was proposed to him as an extremely unwise (or, less diplomatically speaking, stupid) idea.
