Industrial production in Poland disappointed. The Central Statistical Office released the latest data

Industrial production in Poland in January 2026 decreased by 1.5%. year to year – the Central Statistical Office (GUS) reported on Thursday morning. The result turned out to be worse than forecast: the average assumed an increase of 2%.

On a monthly basis, industrial production fell by as much as 6 percent, which is much worse than the forecasted decline of 3.1 percent.

When announcing today's data, economists pointed out that the weaker results in January 2026 are mainly the result of a smaller number of working days than a year ago. “Additionally, production, especially construction and assembly, has a negative impact on probably caused by severe frosts. For this reason, any negative surprises should not reflect a cyclical deterioration of the economic situation and thus change expectations regarding the economic prospects for this year. The baseline scenario remains the maintenance of solid GDP growth supported by consumption and a clear acceleration of investment growth,” wrote Bank Millennium analysts.
