The National Health Fund did not pay billions of zlotys for 2025. It's time for settlements
The National Health Fund has still not settled payments in the amount of PLN 8 billion for services provided in the previous year – said the president of the Polish Hospital Federation, Jarosław Fedorowski, after Wednesday's meeting of the tripartite health team.

Jarosław Fedorowski reported that according to data presented by the National Health Fund, unlimited benefits that remain unpaid in 2025 amount to PLN 2.1 billion, drug programs amount to PLN 1.2 billion, while other liabilities amount to PLN 4.9 billion.
According to information obtained by PAP from a person associated with the tripartite commission, the National Health Fund was to release the migration reserve in the amount of PLN 1.1 billion and allocate these funds to cover outstanding liabilities from previous years. Additionally, in 2026, the Fund was to receive PLN 6 billion in subsidies from the state budget, and the remaining funds were to be transferred in installments of PLN 2 billion per month.

When asked whether the current financial situation of the National Health Fund affects the limitation of patient admissions by hospitals, the president of the Polish Hospital Federation stated that in the event of uncertainty regarding the financing of all medically justified services, these decisions are made on the basis of available data.

The National Health Fund emphasized that in accordance with applicable regulations, the final settlement of the previous year takes place in the second half of February of the following yearand the process of balancing contracts and settling the budget for 2025 is ongoing.
Last year, the Ministry of Health and the National Health Fund forecast that in 2026 the Fund's deficit would amount to PLN 23 billion.
