Paulina Hennig-Kloska announces success. Renewable energy capacity increased several times in five years
— A breakthrough moment in the development of renewable energy in Poland is behind us! For the first time in history, the share of renewable energy sources in the installed capacity in our country exceeded 50%. At the end of December 2025, it is exactly 50.04 percent. – said Paulina Hennig-Kloska, Minister of Climate and Environment. She added that the share of renewable energy sources in electricity production was record high last year 31.41 percent
The total capacity of installed renewable energy installations at the end of December 2025 reached 37,777 MWwhile in 2020 it was only 12,490 MW. This means a more than threefold increase in power in five years. Solar power plants experienced particularly dynamic development, with their capacity increasing from 3,960 MW to 24,808 MWand wind farms – from 6,402 MW to 10,550 MW.

— In 2025, almost 55 thousand GWh of energyi.e. 31.41 percent. all electricity generated in Poland. For comparison, in 2020, production from renewable sources amounted to 28,173 GWh, and the share in total electricity production was 17.83%. – indicates the Ministry of Climate and Environment, citing data from the Energy Market Agency.
Renewable energy as the foundation of the energy transformation
These data show not only the dynamic increase in installed capacity, but also the real impact of renewable energy sources on energy production in the country. The growing role of renewable sources means progress towards Poland's independence from fossil fuels and achieving EU climate goals.
— Just five years ago, the capacity of renewable energy installations was less than a quarter of the total capacity, and today it has reached a historic level of over 50%, which is a milestone in Poland's energy transformation. – emphasizes MKiŚ.
