The recording of Patrizia's calls to 112 was made public, on the day of the tragedy in which the young Romanians lost their lives caught in the flood in Italy

Italian investigators have made public the recordings of calls to the emergency service made by Patrizia, one of the victims of the Natisone river tragedy. According to the conclusions of the investigation, the intervention of the authorities was delayed, and the three young Romanians died, although they could have been saved if help had arrived in time, notes CanCan.

The tragedy took place on May 31, 2024 and the victims were Patrizia Cormos (20 years old), Bianca Doros (23 years old) and Cristian Molnar (25 years old). The three were stranded on an island formed in the middle of the river as the water level rose rapidly and the currents grew stronger. Although they called 112 several times, the rescuers did not arrive fast enough.
The images of the three young people embracing, captured before the waters engulfed them, shocked international public opinion. Now, with the release of the phone calls, investigators say there were chances of a rescue.
In the first call, Patrizia was scared, but she tried to stay calm. He gave the operators all the details of their location and asked for help. As the situation became critical, the young woman called the emergency number again. This time, according to the recording, the operator appeared irritated by the second call and put the call on hold. The specific music and desperate cries of the three can be heard in the background.
“Cristi, stop! Stop yelling! There's no point. Cristi, stop yelling, please!”Patrizia can be heard, trying to calm the young man who was crying for help.
Desperate, the young people called the emergency service for the third time. The last call is considered by investigators to be the most disturbing. Patrizia insisted on sending a helicopter, explaining that the water was rising fast and time was running out.
“Send the helicopter! It's our only chance for rescue! We're in the middle of the bushes near a bridge. The water's starting to rise. We're stuck on an island. Water's spreading everywhere. We're stuck. I think we're covered in water in two minutes! The water's rising, we don't have much time, please!”said the young woman, her voice shaking.
According to the investigation, the death of the three Romanians would have occurred around 2:10 p.m. The rescue helicopter took off at 14:07 and arrived at the scene at 14:13, when the intervention could no longer change anything.
The investigators claim that Patrizia, Bianca and Cristian could have been saved in case of prompt intervention. A paramedic and three firefighters were charged with manslaughter. The families of the victims are now awaiting the judges' final verdict, hoping that responsibilities will be clearly established.
