Two former important strikers from Dinamo's recent history, Marius Niculae (44) and Florin Bratu (46), have spoken about the imminent transfer from the “pack”, George Pușcaș, a striker who will turn 30 in April.
Andrei Nicolescu, president and shareholder at Dinamo, announced about George Pușcaș that “we have an understanding, we just need to have a signature on the contract”.
It is, in theory, a resounding transfer, Pușcaș being international with 46 matches and 11 goals for the Romanian national team. The problem is that the Romanian striker has not played for 8 and a half monthsfrom June 1, 2025, when he last wore the shirt of Bodrumspor, in the first league of Turkey.
Given this context, how soon can Pușcaș be useful for Dinamo? GSP questioned two former goalscorers in red and white, Marius Niculae and Florin Bratu, on this topic.
Florin Bratu, about Pușcaș at Dinamo: “It can help, more from the play-off”
Bratu, now a coach at CS Dinamo, awaiting the resumption of the second league season, said:
“I like him. I understood that he would not be physically ready, but he is the most number 9 that Dinamo has. Then comes Pop. I hope that happens, he is a striker profile that Dinamo was looking for. Pușcaș is also 30 years old, he turns this year, and I think that in the play-off he can help Dinamo one half, 60 minutes, 30 minutes.
He has experience, he is a player who knows how to play with his back to goal, maybe not with fantastic mobility, but he knows how to look for spaces, he has experience. I like it. It might take a little patience, a few weeks, because it's been 8 months since he last played.
But if he was healthy and had no serious injuries, I think that from experience, at the level of League 1, he will manage. I like it.
I think that in the play-off we will see him more. He can be an important element in many moments in the play-offs, because he has quality. He is, after all, a national team player. And I think that's what he's thinking too, to return to the national circuit. And he needed Dinamo, and Dinamo needed him”.
Marius Niculae: “I expect Pușcaș to have a quick impact at Dinamo”
“Arrow” describes the transfer as a win-win, a win for both camps.
“Dinamo needed a striker, George is a national team striker. I think he will help Dinamo in their goals.
I don't know exactly what his form is at the moment, because he hasn't played in a while, but he certainly has the necessary experience to help Dinamo. I think the help will be mutual; George needs to play, Dinamo forward, I think it will be a win-win.
I don't know what his physical condition is, so I can make predictions. But surely the people from Dinamo will test him, he will enter a program and they will certainly know what to work with him to bring him to the optimal level as quickly as possible. Given his international experience, I think he will make an impact pretty quickly.
George is a number 9 and Dinamo needed something like that, especially since Perica left and the position was open. There's still Pop in there as a number 9, he's come in pretty well in some games, he's brought in points, but competition is good for any team. I think it's a good transfer”, said Marius Niculae.
I say that the podium is a realistic goal for Dinamo, with real chances in the Cup as well. They've had a good season so far, we've seen that they don't take chances in their statements, which is a good thing. They get points, they don't have play-off emotions like other teams. And they have a consistent game that gives hope to the fans. They are the ones who have done the hard work and are now reaping the rewards.
