The newspaper “Birobidzhanskaya Zvezda” (12+) wrote about how they were preparing for the elections to the Supreme Soviet of the RSFSR in the Smidovichi district of the Jewish Autonomous Region. During this time, four shops, two stalls, two canteens, a snack bar were built, there are two bakeries, a third is being built, which will produce confectionery. In 1950, a radio center came into operation… A lot of work has been done to improve the village. Three road bridges, 700 meters of dirt roads were built, more than 2 thousand ornamental trees were planted, 2.5 thousand meters of picket fences were installed, and 10 wells were built. The workers of the village greeted the elections to the Supreme Council of the RSFSR with new successes in their work.”

Director of the Nikolaev fish factory V. Yaskovets tells what successes the company’s team has achieved:

“The best results were achieved by the state fishing brigade. The five-year plan was fulfilled by 126.3%, and the 1950 plan by 118.7%. 489 quintals of fish were caught in excess of the plan. Comrade Doroshev’s brigade also achieved excellent results, catching 342 quintals of fish in excess of the plan… Now among the fishermen of the plant and collective farms, socialist competition has flared up with renewed vigor early implementation of plans, for a worthy meeting of the elections to the Supreme Council of the RSFSR. The championship in the competition is occupied by the state fishing brigade, led by Comrade Samoilenko. She pledged to fulfill the quarterly plan by February 18. The fishing collective farms “Krokhal”, “Rybak” and “Red Border Guard” are also successfully fishing.

The chief agronomist of the Smidovichi district department of agriculture, E. Noskova, spoke about the high indicators in the district’s agriculture. The article says that the leading vegetable growers of the Truzhenik and Far Eastern Collective Farms collective farms are introducing advanced agricultural technology and achieving high yields every year.

“A great contribution to the achievement of high yields is made by the tractor teams of Comrade Makerov from the Reuther Stern collective farm, and Comrade Kashchenko from the Truzhenik collective farm. Masters of productive livestock farming also grew up in the region… Preparing for the elections to the Supreme Council of the RSFSR, the leading people of the collective farm village pledged to achieve even higher harvests in 1951 and a further rise in public livestock farming.”

The newspaper “Birobidzhan Star” wrote that a concert of the State Folk Dance Ensemble of Soviet Moldova took place in the Birobidzhan House of Pioneers.

“It was created in 1946 from a dance group at the Doina choir. Many members of the ensemble came from amateur artistic circles in villages and cities. Former members of amateur circles S. Mocanu, I. Furnic, G. Fortu grew up here to become soloists of the ensemble. They were awarded the title of Honored Artists of the Moldavian Republic. The ensemble conducts extensive concert activities, the ensemble has already visited many cities of the Russian Federation, Belarus, the Baltic states. The ensemble's concert in Birobidzhan was a great success. The audience warmly welcomed the dances, musical and vocal performances of the program.”

On February 16, 1981, for saving fuel and energy resources in 1980, the team of the Order of the Badge of Honor of the Teploozersky Cement Plant was awarded the Diploma of the All-Union Central Council of Trade Unions, the Central Committee of the Komsomol and the State Supply Committee of the USSR.

In 1980, the plant saved 300 tons of standard fuel and 550 thousand kilowatt-hours of electricity. The best results in the competition for saving resources were achieved by the teams of the roasting shop, steam power plant and raw materials shop of the enterprise.
