Cousin of Viktor Astafiev Galina Nikolaevna Krasnobrovkina died at the age of 86. She was buried in native village of Ovsyanka February 13, reports the publication sibnovosti.ru.

Galina Nikolaevna was born on December 25, 1940 in Ovsyanka in the family of Nikolai Ilyich and Anna Konstantinovna Potylitsyn. Nikolai is the brother of Lydia Ilyinichna, the writer’s mother.

Uncle and Aunt Astafieva became the prototypes of the heroes of the story “The Last Bow” – Kolcha Jr. and Nyura the Sandpiper. A cousin was also mentioned on the pages of the works.

“Galka’s voice became quieter, thinner, she was already stringing together words, her little head fell sadly onto her chest and glowed like a speck in her dark padded jacket among the dark boat. Father carefully moved towards the gazebo, threw his padded jacket into the bow of the boat, took Galka in his arms, carefully released her onto his clothes, covered her with another padded jacket on top, and Galka, with a long sigh of relief, lay her cheek in her arms and fell asleep sweetly,” wrote Astafiev in the story “The Song Singer.”

From 2003 to 2024, Galina Nikolaevna headed the Astafiev Memorial Complex. It was she who fulfilled her brother’s will, preserving the atmosphere of the native home of the writer’s grandparents.
