A World War II grenade was discovered and later defused in the parking lot of Predazzo, near the venue for the ski jumping competitions at the 2026 Winter Olympics, Italian police said on Sunday.
According to Italian press reports, experts defused the grenade and at no time was there any danger to the public. The parking lot is used by buses and cars during the Winter Olympics, and typically serves as a wood depot.

The grenade was discovered near the ski jump in a temporary parking lot located between Predazzo and Moena on the banks of the Avisio River, according to sport.aktuality.sk. This was defused and did not pose a danger to the public and the competition went on without a hitch.
At Predazzo, the men's high jump ski jumping competition took place on Saturday night, and the winner was no surprise.
Slovenian Domen Prevc, the main favorite, took the gold medal in his hands. For Prevc, it is already the second medal at Milan Cortina after taking the gold in the mixed event. The Slovenian, the current World Cup leader, is unstoppable this season: Prevc dominates the competition and has 11 wins and six other podium finishes this World Cup season. Ren Nikaido took silver on the Pedrazzo ramp, and Poland's Kacper Tomasiak, only 19 years old, completed the podium.
Before the second jump, I said to myself: «You are only here to enjoy yourself. You don't get many jumps in the Olympics, so enjoy the moment! Do what your inner child tells you! Fly as far as you can to feel that floating sensation!”
