The mother of the 4-year-old girl and her boyfriend, detained after the child arrived at the hospital in a coma, with severe trauma and signs of violence
The mother of the girl from Teleorman county who recently arrived at the County Emergency Hospital in Târgu Jiu with a head injury and other signs of violence was detained in the case of attempted murder opened after the doctors examined the child. The woman's boyfriend was also detained in the same case, the investigators suspecting that the man is the one who hit and injured the girl, and the woman was his accomplice and tried to hide the facts.

Initially, the woman told the investigators that she was in Gorj County as a tourist, to visit the works of Constantin Brâncusi, and that her daughter was injured after falling out of bed. However, doctors identified older injuries on the child's body, which could not be justified by the mother.
“A child was brought in in a very serious condition. The girl had a serious head injury and was brought to the emergency unit by her mother. Shortly after, the social worker notified the Gorj County Police Inspectorate”said Mihaela Țicleanu, hospital spokesperson.
After the initial evaluations, the girl was transferred to the “Marie Curie” Hospital in Bucharest for high-performance imaging investigations. The doctors found that the child's condition is serious and that the injuries require specialized monitoring and treatment.
The investigation was taken over by the Prosecutor's Office attached to the Gorj Court, the file being instrumented for attempted murder. Warrants of preventive arrest are to be requested on behalf of the two detainees. Until then, the investigations are carried out in rem, with no one being officially charged.
Neighbors and local witnesses reported that the girl's mother and her concubine were not known to be violent people, and the situation shocked the local community. The authorities draw attention to the fact that such cases must be reported immediately, and medical personnel have the obligation to alert the police when they notice signs of abuse or violence against minors.
The hospital spokesman added: “The quick action of the medical staff, together with the immediate report to the police, allowed the investigation to begin and legal action to be taken against the suspects. The safety of the child is a priority.”
The investigation is ongoing, and investigators are looking into the circumstances of the girl's injuries and other possible cases of abuse.
