Donald Trump will visit Venezuela. “Our relationship is strong”


US President Donald Trump announced on Friday that he intended to visit Venezuela, although he did not specify the date of a possible visit. He also said that in practice, it has already recognized Venezuela's interim president, Delcy Rodriguez, as the country's rightful leader.
The president spoke before flying to Fort Bragg, where he will meet with commandos who participated in the attack on the country in January. When asked about the date of the visit, he replied that he had not decided yet.

However, Trump warmly praised his relationship with Nicolas Maduro's successor, Delcy Rodriguez, rating the relationship with her team as a 10 on a 10-point scale.

“We do business with them, they do a great job. Delcy does a very, very good job and our relationship is strong,” Trump assured. “The oil is extracted and other countries pay a lot of money for it, we take care of it, we refine it.” – he added, noting that “a large part” of the revenues will go to Venezuela.
So far, the US has not formally recognized the governments of Nicolas Maduro or his former vice president, Delca Rodriguez.

On Friday, the US Department of Finance issued a license exempting five oil companies from Venezuelan sanctions, allowing them to resume operations in Venezuela.. These include the American Chevron, which was the only one to maintain operations in the country, as well as the European concerns BP, Shell, Eni and Repsol.
