Dino's authorities did not come to the meeting with the unions. “A strike on the horizon”

The Dino chain has one of the lowest salaries among supermarket chains in Poland and, among others, This is why it owes its high profits and rapid development. Year after year, it catches up with Biedronka in the number of stores. Low wages are caused by, among others, location of stores in smaller towns, where the employee cannot choose among the offers. However, the employees, or rather mainly the company's female employees, decided to change this through trade unions.
February 10 at At 10 a.m. there was to be a meeting of representatives of the National OPZZ Confederation of Labor with the Dino management board. Before noon, an entry appeared on the OPZZ Facebook profile that the meeting had been moved to 12.00 and that no one from the Dino management board will be at the meeting.
“Instead of dialogue – escalation of the conflict? Instead of conversation, the Dino company chooses confrontation. This is not how the talks between the social side and the company should look like. We were prepared for a meeting with the management. We came with specific employee problems. On the other side of the table? The occupational health and safety manager and four lawyers,” write the outraged trade unionists.
The trade unionists write that these are lawyers from the PCS Littler law firm, who are “known for filing lawsuits against trade unionists in Kaufland, Jeremias, and Janpol.”
“It's a pity, because there was a real chance of reaching an agreement on several key issues. Unfortunately, the company's representatives did not answer questions – most likely they had no knowledge of the topics discussed,” said trade unionists.

They report that working and pay conditions are getting worse. “People are tired – they often work for three people. We do not demand miracles. We want decent working conditions and fair pay raises,” they appeal.
The issues that were to be discussed during Tuesday's meeting included: violations of the provisions of the Act on the resolution of collective disputes by Dino, salary increases for employees, the Company Social Benefits Fund, low staffing in supermarkets and warehouses, deduction of funds from employee bonuses for the repair of equipment, ban on holidays in the summer season, pressure on work efficiency and violations of legal regulations regarding temperature.
As the National Labor Inspectorate informed “Rzeczpospolita”, in some facilities the measurements carried out during the inspection actually confirmed too low temperatures. In one of the stores in Skierniewice it was 3.2 degrees Celsius at the checkout counter. In total, PIP has carried out over 140 inspections in Dino stores since the beginning of January.
