Jantar Unity ferry – floating city at sea
The Jantar Unity ferry is almost 200 m long and can carry approximately 400 passengers and up to 270 trucks. Travelers have 200 double cabins and facilities known from large ferries at their disposal: a duty-free shop, cafes, a cocktail bar or a children's zone. Approximately 50 crew members take shifts to ensure the smooth operation of the unit.
The ship is powered by four LNG engines supported by a hybrid battery system, and bow and stern thrusters are responsible for maneuverability in ports. An average speed of 19 knots allows you to cover the route to Trelleborg in approximately 6.5 hours. At the same time, “Jantar Unity” is to be a sign of Poland's growing ambitions on the Baltic Sea – it is the first unit under the Polsca Baltic Ferries brand, created by Unity Line and Polferries.

As Germany notes, the government sees the project as an important impulse for the maritime economy. Prime Minister Donald Tusk commented on the baptism with the words: “Jantar Unity. Polish power in the Baltic Sea.” Two more units are planned, and the entire program is expected to cost PLN 1.3 billion. However, a certain dissonance remains because the new symbol of the Polish fleet flies the flag of Cyprus, and its home port is Limassol, not Szczecin or Świnoujście.
