The 46-year-old man, Oringar from Romania, settled in a region in the east of Italy, was found breathless on Saturday morning, the Peninsula press writes.
The disappearance of the Romanian who lived in San Severino, Macerata province in the Marche region, was announced two weeks ago, according to Corriere Adriatico.
His body was found on the mountain in the Giampereto area of Sarnano. The discovery was made by three young people who were hiking on the “Tre Santi” route at an altitude of about 1,200 meters, near a waterfall.
Firefighters, rescuers and a medical team arrived in the area, but the rescuers had no way to save him and declared him dead. The carabinieri began the investigation and searched the area.
The man's name is Sergiu Cătălin Cosoiu and he is a construction contractor, according to Italian media.
The man was last seen on January 23, when he allegedly bought some food at the shelter in Pintura. The family never heard from him again and reported him missing the next day.
The man was separated and had two children, according to La Nuova Riviera.
According to the reconstructions, the man would have started on a route through the forest to go hiking.
The first hypothesis of the investigators regarding the cause of death is an accidental fall, the man being found at the base of a steep ravine.
The investigators consider that he was hurt and fell from a height of several tens of meters.
The area is rough and the rescuers needed more than an hour to reach the place where the Romanian was found.
