The ministry called it an act of “serious sabotage”, adding that it was reminiscent of the opening day of the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris, when saboteurs attacked the French TGV high-speed train network, causing traffic chaos – says Reuters Agency.
“These unprecedentedly serious actions do not in any way damage Italy's image in the world, an image that the Games will make even more convincing and positive,” said the transport ministry, headed by deputy prime minister Matteo Salvini.
Earlier, Salvini called the attack on the railway line a “criminal act.” — If it turns out that the interruption of high-speed traction was done deliberately on the first day of the Games, it means that someone wants to harm Italy, added the politician.
